It’s May which means it’s time for some May Mocktail recipes! Though don’t worry, I’ve added a note for those looking to put a splash of alcohol in their Sparkling Watermelon Mojito.
While Summer may not be until June 20th, here in Texas our summers start in May with the high temperatures rolling in around Mother’s Day. That means light cocktails with fruity notes fill our happy hours. What better way to kick start patio cocktail season than with a Mojito recipe?!
This cocktail is light, refreshing, and tart. It’s made with fresh watermelon and Master of Mixes Mojito Mixer. I love using Master of Mixes to get authentic flavors with ease into my cocktails. With the current state of things, this has been a great way to get the flavors I’ve been missing in my drinks, like mint. We haven’t been able to obtain mint since early March!
This cocktail comes together quickly and pairs well with things off the grill like burgers or salmon. It fits perfectly into a weekend grill session or with video calls with your gal pals during the week. You can even spruce it up more with different flavored sparkling waters for another punch of flavor!

There are a few ways you can make this recipe. Some people don’t mind muddled fruit flesh in their drink and others would rather strain it out.
If you don’t mind muddled fruit in your drink, make this cocktail in the glass you will serve it in. Super easy!
If you’d like, you can muddle the fruit in a cocktail shaker and fine strain the fruit juice into the glass you’ll be serving it in. I do recommend this method if you plan to make this drink for more than 2 people, just for your own personal ease. That way you can easily make 3+ drinks in a very short period of time.

In a highball glass (or if you’d like to strain the drink refer to the information above) or pint glass muddle ½ cup of watermelon. Muddle it until it yields around 2 ounces of juice.
Add ice to the glass and pour in 2.5 ounce of Master of Mixes Mojito Mixer. Stir the liquids until well combined, then top it all off with lime or non-flavored sparkling water.

Want to add alcohol for a friend? Use only 2 ounces of Master of Mixes Mojito Mixer and add in 1 ounce of white rum. Stir and then top off with the sparkling water of your choice.

Herbs have been near impossible for us to get, so when I really wanted a non-alcoholic Mojito I reached for Master of Mixes Mojito Mixer. Using their scratch quality mixers that are bursting with real fruit and herb flavors provides ease of use for tasty drinks. Allowing me to get not only that tart lime flavor but the mint that we are so desperately missing for these mojitos. Bonus points, it makes whipping up cocktails super simple. So if you’re working, home schooling, and trying to keep an online social life, this is a great way to get yourself the drink you deserve with ease.
Sparkling Watermelon Mojito Mocktail Ingredients
½ cup Watermelon or 2 ounces Fresh Watermelon Juice
2.5 ounces Master of Mixes Mojito Mixer
3-4 ounces Lime Sparkling Water
Watermelon & Lime for Garnish
Instructions
In a highball glass add ½ cup of watermelon to the glass. Muddle the watermelon until it releases all of it’s juices.*
Add ice to the glass and pour Master of Mixes Mojito Mixer in. Stir with a bar spoon. Top off with lime sparkling water. Stir one more time.
Garnish with extra watermelon and a lime wheel. Serve immediately.
Recipe Notes
*If you would like to not have watermelon flesh in your drink, you can muddle the watermelon in a shaker and fine strain it until you get about 2 ounces of watermelon juice. Juicing the watermelon this way would be ideal if you plan to make more than 2. This would be most ideal for quicker cocktail making for more than two people.
**Alcoholic version – Use 2 ounces of Master of Mixes Mojito Mix, instead of 2.5 ounce and add 1 ounce of white rum.
